A community Easter egg hunt will take place on the courthouse lawn later this month in an effort to shed positive light on the community.
On Saturday, March 30, there will be an Easter egg hunt and craft fair taking place in downtown Washington Court House and it’s being sponsored by three local groups.
The event — which will take place on the lawn of the Fayette County Courthouse — will feature crafters, vendors, and children’s games.
“This event is being sponsored by the Washington Pools and Parks Committee, Alliance for a Prosperous Downtown, and Fayette Advocate,” said Joni Campbell-Behrends, one of the event’s organizers.
Prize baskets, games, pictures with the Easter bunny, and candy will be offered at the event.
Eggs will be sporadically scattered across the lawn of the Fayette County Courthouse stuffed with candy, toys, and gift cards offered by local Washington Court House businesses.
“We’re excited to be a part of this positive event that will benefit our community,” said Fayette Advocate‘s Editor-in-chief Derek Myers. “This is the start of something new and we’re delighted to be a part of it.”
The event starts at 10 a.m. and goes until 4 p.m. The egg hunt will take place at 1 p.m. sharp.
“We are trying to make a great event for the kids and families of Washington Court House,” said Behrends. “There is a lot of negative feelings out there and our town needs a moral boost. The more we all come together, we all can benefit.”
