A two-hour Zumba-thon event has been organized to help raise funds for a man severely injured in an explosion earlier this month.
“Move For Love, Pulling for Virgil” is an event that will be held at the Old Country Connection, 1500 State Route 22, Washington Court House in an attempt to raise funds to assist Virgil Barker’s family with expenses incurred from an accidental explosion.
Barker, 69, was severely injured in an explosion at Barker’s Towing, located along state Route 41 near Jeffersonville, earlier this month.
Barker was welding a metal cylinder tank when something ignited and severely injuring him.
The explosion was reportedly heard two miles away.
The barrel flew over 100 yards in the air, according to the fire deparment, and severely injured Barker by causing over 90% burns to his body.
A medical helicopter was called to the scene where Barker was decontaminated and transported to The Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.
The planned event — which includes a raffle — is April 6 and starts at 7 p.m. A $10 donation is requested at the door.
