Those living in the unincorporated parts of Fayette County will see two different law enforcement agencies policing the area on Monday.
According to Fayette County Sheriff Vernon P. Stanforth, The Washington Court House Police Department and the Ohio State Highway Patrol will police the area on Monday that’s typically policed by the county sheriff.
“Because most of the deputies from my office will be attending Deputy Brown’s funeral, the state patrol and city police have offered their services to police the county on Monday,” said Stanforth.
Officers from the police department will handle calls inside the villages of Jeffersonville, New Holland, Bloomingburg, and New Martinsburg, and respond to all residential calls on unincorporated township roads. The state patrol will respond to traffic crashes along all county roads and on Interstate 71 and U.S. 35, according to Stanforth.
Those needing law enforcement assistance on Monday should continue to phone the Sheriff’s office at (740) 335-6170 or 9-1-1 for emergencies.
