On Friday, May 10, 2013 at 9:21 p.m., Greenfield police officers responded to a reported abduction of five children from a home in the 1000 block of Spring Street.

According to GPD Chief Tim Hester, the children were being watched by two females, one adult and one juvenile, when the children’s grandmother and aunt showed up.

The grandmother and aunt, identified as Bonnie L. Davis, 49, and Michelle A. Davis, 26, reportedly entered the home without permission and began an argument with the babysitters.

During the course of the argument, both babysitters were physically assaulted by the grandmother and aunt, who then took the children from the home and left.

The children were five girls ranging in age from 4-12 years old.

Officers contacted the mother of the children by phone, who was away shopping at the time, and she advised the grandmother and aunt did not have permission to enter her home or take her children.

An alert was sent by teletype to all surrounding law enforcement agencies and officers learned through investigation that the children may have been taken to the Leesburg area.

Leesburg police and Highland and Clinton County sheriffs’ deputies assisted with the search, and at 11:36 p.m. a Greenfield police officer located the grandmother with the five girls at an address on Coffee Road near Leesburg.

A short time later Highland County sheriff deputies located the aunt at another location and took her into custody.

The children were returned to their mother and were physically unharmed.

Bonnie Davis and Michelle Davis were both arrested and charged with five counts of abduction, felonies of the third degree, and two counts of misdemeanor assault.

Both were brought to the Greenfield jail where bond was set at $52,000 each.

On Saturday at 1:30 a.m., Bonnie Davis suffered a medical condition and was transported from the jail to Adena Greenfield Medical Center by EMS.

She was later transferred to Grant Hospital in Columbus, and will appear in court when she is released from medical care.

Michelle Davis will appear in Highland County Court, Greenfield, for arraignment on Monday, May 13 at 9 a.m.
