Carlton Manor, located at 726 Rawlings Street in Washington Court House, a nursing home specializing in patients with behavioral issues, has failed to pay their employees in full.
Several employees phoned Fayette Advocate‘s breaking news hotline reporting that they received their paychecks on Wednesday but that they were only half of what they should have been
“I was there at 3 p.m. to pick up my check,” said one employee who wished to remain anonymous. “Before I knew it, it was 4 o’clock and our checks still were not issued. Finally, checks were passed out but they were only for half of what I was supposed to be paid.”
Dozens of employees from the 144 bed facility reported to our newsroom that they, too, were affected by the payroll shortage.
Carlton Manor administrators released a statement to Fayette Advocate on Thursday:
Unfortunately, because the company experienced delays in payment for services, Carlton was unable to pay its full payroll yesterday. In an effort to ease some of the impact on its employees, Carlton issued paychecks for half of their pay, and reassured the employees that they will receive the remaining balance of their pay on Wednesday of next week when the Facility receives its Medicaid Vendor, or sooner if the other funds are received prior to that date. The employees have been amazingly understanding and instrumental in helping us to resolve this temporary issue. The employees have demonstrated their true dedication in caring for their residents, with several of them offering to delay receiving any of their pay until next week. We have offered to cover any fees or penalties our employees may incur as a result of the delay in paying the remaining portion of their pay next week.
We are confident that this will be resolved by the middle of next week, and we believe that this will not recur in the future.
According to the Ohio Office of Medical Assistance, Carlton Manor is an active provider and they are currently receiving payments from Medicaid.
Nursing home administrators said that they hope the issue will be fixed by next week.
