The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is a state-of-the-art pediatric clinic on wheels. Designed from the ground up to meet the specific well-care and treatment needs of children, it is staffed by pediatric doctors and nurses from Nationwide Children’s Hospital, one of “America’s Best Children’s Hospitals” as ranked in U.S.News & World Report.
Pediatric primary care services provided will vary by each community’s needs and may include:
Immunizations; Well-child and sick visits; Body Mass Index calculations and nutrition counseling; Developmental screenings; Vision, hearing and lead screening; Blood collection and point of care testing; Childhood health education and injury prevention education; and specialty care referrals including mental health and social service referrals.
The Care Mobile will be a new feature offered at this year’s Community Health Fair Family Fun Day on Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Services offered include immunizations, hearing and vision screenings, and physicals among others. Providing services at little or no cost to the patient, the Care Mobile virtually eliminates financial and geographic barriers to health care access. All insurances including Medicaid are accepted. It also reduces the strain placed on local ERs by families using them for non-emergency care.
Working in partnership with local community health care leaders, the Care Mobile bridges gaps between undeserved children and local communities. It travels to locations that communities identifies as lacking in pediatric resources or underutilizing existing ones.
Because no two communities are exactly alike, the Care Mobile can address the most critical childhood health needs in each area. Whether it’s providing immunizations, or increas in awareness on the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, it can provide the services that do the most good in the community.
